@davlgd Clairement ! J’étais aussi tombé sur cette documentation de Google : web.dev/embed-best-practices/ Avec la recommandation d’utiliser des « facades » pour YouTube. Avantage supplémentaire : le gain en performance

@btsavage Then honestly, the AppStore belongs to Apple so I'm not shocked that they use its insights for their ad business (again, opt-in). I think the problem rather lies in the fact that Apple forbids App stores from competitors and sideloading.
  26. …in reply to @btsavage
@btsavage You will note that Apple personalized Ads is now opt-in (iOS 15) 9to5mac.com/2021/09/02/apple-personalized-ads-targeting-ios-15/ I'd like to see something similar when I use Google or Facebook

@btsavage From what I see, ATT is an effective solution. Why? Because most of adtech players are not tracking users anymore. Effective doesn't mean perfect
  29. …in reply to @btsavage
@btsavage It's interesting but it takes time (see the Privacy sandbox, W3C discussions, or simply Facebook PETs). And I think you will still need consent (at least under GDPR). In the mean time, what do you do, wait? Safari ITP, Apple ATT already have an impact, even if no perfect
  30. …in reply to @btsavage
@btsavage Yes indeed, it's not correctly enforced, that's a pity. But at least, those rules have an impact on most players (the shady ones take a risk when they are breaking the rules)
  31. …in reply to @btsavage
@btsavage Again I agree. But look at the current landscape: - Is the ATT prompt the right tool? No - Is it better than the status-quo (aka far west)? Yes, by far
  32. …in reply to @btsavage
@btsavage Well yes I agree, especially for your 1000 games example. But I still see ATT as a big step in the right direction. There is a HUGE difference between being tracked by the conglomerate alone, and being tracked by the multiple adtech companies behind the scene

@btsavage So it's not about "any other business" but rather about the fact that Apple has a monopole on App Stores ?

  40. …in reply to @JamesHercher
@JamesHercher @drbarnard @benthompson @iPodThereforIAm Do you know how Apple is dramatically over-attributing itself? With SKAdNetwork, Apple shouldn't preference itself right?
  41. …in reply to @benthompson
@benthompson @iPodThereforIAm Yes but making other successful products is not an easy task, even for Apple. I'd like to see their current ad revenue breakdown, but my guess is that it's mostly the AppStore. And if they decide to re-open their iAd ad-network, they will have the same "tracking" limitations

@_RDemol C’est en cours, ils n’auront pas 10 ans : autoritedelaconcurrence.fr/fr/communiques-de-presse/ciblage-publicitairemise-en-place-par-apple-de-la-sollicitation-att-lautorite J’attends le résultat et je comprends que l’adtech aimerait qu’Apple soit condamné mais je n’ai toujours pas vu d’argument solide 🤷‍♂️

Also to remember: App-install ads is a big market but still very small compared to the overall mobile ads market
  46. Another interpretation: in-Apps surveillance advertising bubble is bursting on iOS. Consequence: Apple is now dominant in iOS app-install ads. Remember they own the AppStore. No wonder that Facebook and adtech lobbyists are angry @PatrickMcGee_/1449608262492459011

@PatrickMcGee_ @alexdbauer @Apple @facebook @Google @AdTechExplained @Kantrowitz @kochavaofficial @Techmeme Not to say Apple does not benefit (it does, Facebook, Google and others have less data to optimize, hence budgets are shifting), but still
  49. …in reply to @PatrickMcGee_
@PatrickMcGee_ @alexdbauer @Apple @facebook @Google @AdTechExplained @Kantrowitz @kochavaofficial @Techmeme « market share » is a bit misleading, you would think it’s about budgets whereas it’s « only » about attributed installations down to the device. You still have SKAdNetwork for Google, Facebook and others to see the full impact of theirs ads (much more than your chart)
