@jason_kint @ideafaktory @Kantrowitz @MikeIsaac @KurtWagner8 One problem: Facebook gives advertisers the tools to bypass ATT, browsers protections, Adblockers (conversion API, advanced matching, offline conversions). So then it’s up to the advertisers to respect users choices but there is no technical enforcement, nor easy external audit.

  18. …in reply to @thezedwards
@thezedwards Same, I appreciate :) unfortunately I don’t have access to this article, it’s already subscriber only
  19. …in reply to @thezedwards
@thezedwards Indeed, it will take time before the DPAs catch-up. Thanks, this IDFV topic is not known… Do you already have examples of new “gaming ad-networks” and hedge funds starting to abuse this? They need to merge companies for real so that’s not easy?
  20. …in reply to @thezedwards
@thezedwards That’s a great argument indeed. I would not put it in the same category as “tracking” (idfa, 3rd-party cookies…), but definitely not aligned to GDPR’s Controller Responsibilities. Makes me think of Chrome First-Party sets (same issue but for the web)
  21. RT @jason_kint: Genius service journalism and life giving, @katienotopoulos “I want big daddy capitalism to rawdog my data” https://t.co/g…
  22. …in reply to @thezedwards
@thezedwards But if you look at ePrivacy, the IDFV is still an issue (as with the Apple Ads, personalized by default)
  23. …in reply to @thezedwards
@thezedwards Well it depends on how you define tracking. As long as the Apps belong to the same company, it’s not called tracking per Apple definition: developer.apple.com/app-store/user-privacy-and-data-use/ And it’s actually aligned with Mozilla: wiki.mozilla.org/Security/Anti_tracking_policy
  24. …in reply to @thezedwards
@thezedwards The main difference with the web (without 3rd party cookies) is that you can track the users across all your apps even if they didn’t sign-in? Or do you see other issues?
  25. …in reply to @thezedwards
@thezedwards They don’t need IDFV across FB, Instagram and WhatsApp right? They already have PII width email, phone number

  40. …in reply to @tom_goirand
@tom_goirand @FabBZH1 @AT_Internet @lemondefr @AT_Internet_FR Yes, AT Internet a une exemption sous conditions via la CNIL & le CNAME cloaking n'est pas interdit. Mais cela pose quand même question (manque de transparence + contournement protection navigateurs/adblockers + risques sur la sécurité) Cf. medium.com/nextdns/cname-cloaking-the-dangerous-disguise-of-third-party-trackers-195205dc522a par exemple
  41. …in reply to @pixeldetracking
@fourmeux Du coup je pense que le RGPD ne s'applique pas : "En pratique, le droit européen s’applique chaque fois qu’un résident européen est directement visé par un traitement de données, y compris par Internet." cnil.fr/fr/reglement-europeen-sur-la-protection-des-donnees-ce-qui-change-pour-les-professionnels @Cellular_PP aura peut-être plus d'info ?

@saminburncity You might get there through Programmatic Guaranteed, so the RTB pipes (and adtech RTB tax) is still there
  49. …in reply to @pixeldetracking
@saminburncity There is a big constraint preventing forward market to succeed: Google (and the whole RTB ecosystem). Nobody wants to lose the big RTB revenue share… That’s why most moves failed in this space. You need enough players/traction… And RTB is far ahead in this game
