Another breach the CNIL is not talking about, the IDFV (developer.apple.com/documentation/uikit/uidevice/1620059-identifierforvendor): this identifier cannot be deactivated, app developers can use it to track you X-Apps (their apps) 😈 1/ @CNIL_en/1610677741174546432

With the IDFV, Google can track you on iOS Google Search, YouTube and Google Maps, even if you are not logged in your Google account... Note that this option is not possible on Safari, where 3rd party cookies are blocked. Apple is not consistant 🤔 2/

Hence, it's another breach of the "ePrivacy" directive, transposed in Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act. 👀 3/

I misread the CNIL's decision (thanks @alextcone), ePrivacy compliance regarding idfv usage is on the app's vendors plate, not Apple 4/

And now, the CNIL is applying this rule: "The use of the IDFV for advertising purposes without the user's consent constitutes a breach of Article 82 of the French Data Protection Act." cnil.fr/fr/mobile-games-cnil-fined-voodoo-3-million-euros 💪 5/
